How many peels?
One peel gives you an instant glow. For pigmentation, breakouts or texture, a course of peels gives the best, longest-lasting results. We'll plan how many you need, and how far apart, at your consultation.
Is there downtime?
Little to none for most of our peels. Skin may look a little pink for the rest of the day, then feel dry or flake lightly for a few days as dead skin comes away. Stronger or layered peels can peel more. We'll tell you what to expect from your peel before we start.
Does it sting?
It depends on the peel. Some, like Exo Mandelic, you won't feel at all. Others feel warm, prickly or itchy for a few minutes while they work, then settle quickly.
Who is it good for?
Most skin types and tones, including sensitive and breakout-prone skin, because we can choose a gentler formula. Peels aren't suitable if you're using Roaccutane (isotretinoin) or have in the last six months, or if you have active cold sores, sunburn or broken skin. Pregnant or breastfeeding? Vita Brite and Exo Mandelic are safe choices, so let us know and we'll choose for you. Active eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis flare-ups need to settle first. We'll check everything at your consultation.
Do I need to prep my skin?
For most peels, yes. Using Lira cleanser, serums, moisturiser and SPF at home beforehand gets the best, safest result, and we'll set up your routine at your consultation. Vita Brite and Exo Mandelic need no prep, so they're perfect if you want a peel straight away.
Aftercare
Wear sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours. Let any peeling come away on its own, with no picking, scratching or scrubbing. Skip soap, vitamin A, vitamin C and other actives for up to 7 days, and avoid heat, saunas and hard workouts for 24–48 hours. Leave at least two weeks after your peel before any other facial treatment. We'll tell you what's right for your skin.
